One
warm, autumn Ann Arbor day in 1964, Terri Atkin walked down concrete
steps into the original University of Michgan Hospital. She wore
a scratchy, blue seersucker uniform complete with pinafore and
carried a frenetic flock of butterflies in her stomach. Terri
has been in health care ever since--a psych nurse, an instructor,
a researcher, a clinical nurse specialist, a speaker, a consultant
and a patient. Terri not only brings a wealth of experience and
a broad perspective to her work, but also knows first hand what
motivates and frustrates providers. Having served far too much
time in a hospital gown during the cancer years, Terri is especially
eager to share a patient's point of view with providers like those
who helped save her life.
