For nearly forty years, humorist Terri Tate has been traveling the country, speaking to health care audiences about the importance of self-care. She preached [and deeply believed] that we can’t take any better care of our patients than we do of ourselves. Then, in 1990, Terri became a patient. She discovered that her mantra was even truer than she had known. Two bouts of disfiguring oral cancer from which she had a 2% chance of survival took her to a deeper level of understanding of what it means to love and care for yourself. She will share the insights gained on her harrowing and often hilarious journey and read excerpts from A Crooked Smile. We will explore how to love and care for ourselves as we set out to blaze new trails!.
